A Statement from the Author

When I started exploring the World Wide Web, I quickly surmised that there were no internet resources with information on Woody Guthrie. If you are familiar the Web, you know that it's usually pretty easy to find information on anything you want, but you can only do so if someone cares enough to create and maintain a web page. I thought to myself, "There ought to be a page about Woody." So I made one, and it grows and changes whenever I get enough spare time to work on it. Hopefully, these pages can eventually contain something for all, whether the visitors are "Old Folkies" or just a curious, first-time Woody listeners.

To clarify copyright questions, I'm responsible for the pages' layout and format, but only the biography is mine. Everything else is from the Woody Guthrie Archives or the Smithsonian Folkways Archives. Please DO NOT take pictures, sound bites, or the biography from the pages for anything other than brief, personal use. I firmly believe that only the copyright owners have any right to use this material to make money, and I believe that they have the right to know how the material is used in order to guard it from any irresponsible or improper use. These pages are intended as an information resource, not a distribution center for Woody Guthrie pirates. If you are interested in using any Woody Guthrie material for educational or historical purposes, I encourage you to contact Woody Guthrie Publications. I'm sure they will be happy to discuss your ideas with you.

I hope you enjoy the Woody Guthrie Pages and gain something from them. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me with any questions or comments.
