Getting
a Life : Strategies for Simple Living, Based on the Revolutionary Program
for Financial Freedom, Your Money or Your Life
by Jacqueline Blix, David
Heitmiller, Joe Dominguez
Book Description
Revolutionary and life changing,
the "voluntary simplicity" movement is about achieving financial freedom
and living well for less. Now Getting a Life shows how real people have
left the rat race for a more meaningful--and financially manageable--life
that reflects their own true values and individual goals...With honesty
and humor, the authors and more than two dozen families and individuals
share their personal experiences on such issues as paying for health care,
raising children in a materialistic world, and breaking the link between
what you do for a living and who you are. Getting a Life shows you how
to adopt voluntary simplicity in your own life and what to expect once
you do.

Entrepreneurial
Couples : Making It Work at Work and at Home
by Kathy Marshack, Kathy Marshak, Kathy
Marchack, Cynthia D. Scott, Dennis T. Jaffe
Review
No longer do dividing lines
exist between home and work--especially for entrepreneurial couples. And,
as therapist Marshack defines them, such couples comprise not only two
marrieds toiling in the same business but also any married partner who
is self-employed, whether or not the "other half" is gainfully at work
or supportive at home. After all, the problems confronted are similar--communications,
equity versus equality, life goals, wealth management, parenting, and dealing
with stress. Though solutions are, of course, individualized, she provides
tools to wield: a dozen self-assessment exercises, actual life stories
from her practice, and a series of lists that help in planning agendas
and as reminders. Sure, much of this wisdom is founded in common sense--e.g.,
boredom and fatigue are two warning signs of change--but few of us in the
throes of both relationships and business remember and practice them. A
bit too research oriented to become a true self-helper; still, valuable
insights remain. Barbara Jacobs
