Long Bow
The longbow is the oldest of the three classifications of bows… This bow is long, lightweight and can be shot with incredible speed. Shooting the longbow is usually done in the instinctive manner, sight and rest are usually never seen probably due to the fact that the sight window is so small.

Even though, this bow has a smooth draw, is very reliable and will never let you down.

Recurve Bow

The recurve bow which was invented by the Turks are more common than the longbow in today’s day and age. These bows can be easily characterized by the curved limbs bent away from the shooter (Compound bow may have these limbs but are non functional). Thus, this gives the shooter a compact, lightweight bow that still has a smooth draw. This bow can be shot with or without sites, which gives it a flexibility and more of a choice to the shooter.

This bow is very reliable, smooth drawing, compact and can be stored quite easily.

Compound Bow

The compound bow is a relatively new design and has become very popular in the archery industry. The greatest advantage of the compound bow is it  "let-off". Meaning that the pulled poundage of the bow is lessened ounce passed the peak (when it starts getting easier), which allows the archer to hold the bow longer and more confortably.

This bow usually fires arrows at higher speeds and pack more kinetic energy due to the fact that the cams stores more energy into the limbs. While this may be an advantage for speed and penetration, this also increases nois and the chance  to have a mechanical failure.

This bow is fast, compact and is considered to be easier to learn. Yet, this bow is heavy and hard to store due to the fact that the cables and strings are not removed for storage..

Don’t - dry fire a bow (draw and releasing a bow without an arrow in it). The vibrations released by a dry-fired bow may break its limbs, and cause serious injury (or death) to the shooter.
