3D Shooting

This activity closely resembles bowhunting in may ways. The targets resemble actual hunting animals, the terrain and weather (my club shoots in any weather even -40 degrees Celsius) closely match those found while hunting and the distances between the archer and target are unmarked. Having unmarked distances and shooting under various conditions will develop the archers skills at range estimation and can actually make the archer more proficient in archery and in bowhunting.

Aerial Targetry

This activity is mostly practiced by recurve and long bow shooters, because of the limitations of the compounbd bow in terms of instinctive shooting.  To practice this sport you must use "flu-flu" arrows which are arrows with unusually large fletching.  This will cause severe drag and the  the arrow will not fly extreme distances before rejoining the ground. To play this games, one must throw a round piece of foam (replaceable target cores might work) into the air at a distance of about 40 meters from the shooting line. Ounce accomplished the archers draw, aim and shoot... The arrows that impacts the target wins that round.

Bow Fishing

This sport is growing more and more popular in the past few years. To bowfish you must use fish points and a bow-reel, so that one may recover his arrow and/or fish. Surface fish, such as carp or gaiter-gar or your prime target due to the arrows limitation of hitting bottom feeding fish. Also take into consideration it's size, a minnow can be quite a challenge.

Bowhunting

The art of taking big game animals with a bow and arrow, in most areas of North-America one must have a minimal poundage of 40 pounds and a boradhead with a width of no less than 1/2". Some states and provinces may also require you to take a Bowhunting education course before going out into the field.

Stump Shooting

This activity is usually done with more than one archer which mount blunt tips on the tip of the arrows. The object of this activity is to hone you range estimation.  This is accomplished by, one member of the group selecting a random target, such as a tree stumps, tuff of weeds, tree trunks etc... Once the entire group has verified the target the archers estimate the range, aims and then shoots. Once all arrows are fired, measurements are taken of the actual distance in order to see how close the archer were to the actual distance they judged.
NOTE: This activity is not intended for scoring just improving your skills.
