Archery and Bowhunting Accessories Big Cat

Quiver

Usually a leather or synthetic container used for carrying or storing arrows. The three most common types of quivers are Back, Hip or Bow quiver.

Glove or Fingertab

Protects the fingers used in drawing releasing the bowstring.

Armguard

Protects the arm from being slapped by the bowstring upon release of an arrow. This also keeps shirt sleeves away from the bowstring, permitting a better clearance and consistency.

Bowstringer

Prevents bow damage, allows easy replacement or remouval of bowstring (teardrops on compound bows have a similar function). When not in use, stick bows should be stored unstrung at room temperature.

Release or trigger

A release is a device that connects to the string and is used to release the arrow by a mechanically releasing the string. Theses devices usually gives you a smoother and more consistent release… They also allow to hold more tension confortably.

Stabilizer Bar

These are used as counterweights on the bow. The basic models lean the bow forward once the arrow is released… This allow for better pass through of the arrow, thus improving arrow accuracy. These devices also absorbs recoil and cuts down noise.

Cable guard

These basically prevent the cables of the compound bow from getting in the way of the arrow and its fletching.

Kisser Buttons

Put on string and placed in such a way that it touches your lips when at full draw, used  to maintain a consistent form and release.

Peep Sight

Placed on string to allow the archer to "see" through it, this allows for to use your sights more effeciently.

Rest

This is basically a "rest" for the arrows, which imrpouves arrow take-off.

Overdraw

With an overdraw you can shorten arrows down a few inches. This will lower the arrow weight and increases the arrow speed. Unfortunately this may cause an increase in noise and may reduce consistency as well as increase the chance of the limbs breaking under stress.

Bow Sights

Bow sights vary in size and styles. But the most common aspect of sight are adjustable markers that corresponds to various distances. This works by looking through the string (or peep sight) and lining the sight marker onto the designated target.

Silencers
The construction of theses accessories are commonly made of rubber or cloth and are attached to the bow string. This reduces bows noise and recoil, which is quite useful for hunting.

Clicker

A device that makes an audible sound ounce at full draw, this will prevent target panic or make the shooter more consistent by forcing him to pull the bow all the way.

Do - Use quivers that protect arrow heads. Some open-topped quivers are dangerous and should be avoided.

Do - Use caution at all times when stringing or removing a string from a bow. The bow limbs are under high tension. Improper handling can cause serious injury.
