Membership Information

Residents of Essa:
Membership Card
What you need:

Individual and family membership cards are issued upon presentation of identification, current mailing address and telephone number.

Acceptable forms of Identification:

(1) Current Driver's Licenses with applicant's signature and current address clearly stated (one piece of identification only needed in this case).

(2) If the applicant does not posses a driver's license, we will accept: a credit card, bank card, ontario health card or photo ID card with the applicant's signature on it and one other piece of information with the applicant's current address on it as stated in (1). Our policy is not to write down any numbers from an applicant's credit cards, bank cards or health cards for ID purposes; we will just note on the applicantion card "Bank of Nova Scotia card noted" or "Health card noted" etc.

(3) Phone Number: If a patron claims not to have a phone, or they can only provide us with a pager number, they must provide us with a business phone number or the phone number of an assenting friend or relative where we may leave a message if needed. We will phone the assenting party in the presence of the applicant for confirmation.

Non-residents:

Please note that non-residents may obtain free membership if they can present a property tax receipt issued by the township of Essa in addition to their driver's license with a current address clearly stated on it.

Non-resident fees:

Non-resident fees (residents from neighbouring municipalities, temporary or transient residents) are charged and are non-refundable. These memberships may be purchased for six months, at half the yearly fee, or for one year. These increases reflect the combined provincial and municipal support per household as outlined in the 1993 Ontario Public Library Statistics.

$30.00 per family/per year
$15.00 per family/per six months

**If you would like more information on any of our fees, please contact the library at (705)424-6531.

**Once card is issued per family membership. Any replacement of lost, damaged or missing ID cards OR families wishing more than one card will be charged $1.00 per card.
