V-Race 1.0 - OPL version for Psion Siena V-Race is to a race what chess is to a fight. In this game, cars are represented by pieces on a grid and moves are vectors from one point to another. This is mainly a thinking game. To install the program, put V-Race.opl in the \OPL\ directory, open it with the OPL editor and transcode it with the menu 'transcode'. This will install a runnable version of the game in the \OPO\ directory (under the RunOpl icon). The program starts by drawing a road (only half of it may be visible on small screens). Then a dialog window allows you to choose up to five players; each one can be a human player or the Psion itself in one out of four levels. Select 'None' to disable a player. Set the field 'Collisions' to the behavior you want. Set the field 'Hints' to 'yes' to enable the hint key. Then press enter. Warning: if hints are enabled or at least one player is a Psion, the program will do an analysis of the road. This will reduce thinking time during the game but takes approximatively ten minutes. A cup of coffee may be welcome. Else, the game starts immediatly. Players move one after another. They have to go down right and to follow the double loop of the road. The start and the end are at the same place and are represented by a small square. The winner is the first to reach the end after a full double-loop. When it is your turn, the program draws a big square at your position and a blinking square where you would end if you maintained your speed and direction. Use the arrow keys to modify this position to at most one point and press enter to validate your choice. Your new move is a segment from your old position to the new one, and is always a modification of the previous move. The move can neither traverse a white area nor end in a white or light grey area. If collisions have been enabled, it should also not end at the position of another player. If any of the above cases occurs, the message 'crash' is displayed, the move is cancelled and you will restart from a null speed at the next turn. Further, if your move ends in a grey area (water), you will continue from a null speed at the next turn; and if it ends in a dark grey area (oil) you will not be able to modify your speed and direction at the next turn. The "+" bonus gives you an extra move. The "x" bonus (turbo) will allow you to modify your three next moves to up to two points instead of one. The 'help' key can be used to get a short summary of the most useful keys. The 'menu' key can be used to access to many additional, self-explanatory features.
