So you wanna know more, eh?
Read on for the full scoop...
My name is Cheryl; my magickal Craft name is Chantrea
which means Moonlight in Hindu. I was born 11/04/68 at 8:25 p.m. in
Malden, MA, USA.
At the time of my birth, the Sun was in Scorpio, the Moon in Taurus,
and Cancer was rising on the horizon (Ascendant).
For more details, see
my full birth chart.
I grew up in the Northern Suburbs of Boston, MA
having moved from Malden when I was just 4 years old.
As of October 30, 1998, Mike and I bought
our first house, moving back to the town where I had
spent the majority of my formative years (from 4 through 24).
I live with Mike, my significant other for the last 8 years, and our three
pets: a Medium Sulphur-crested Cockatoo named Corky, a Pied Cockatiel
named Spikey, and a Lop Rabbit named Coco.
Oh yeah, and I can't forget my large collection of
beanie babies! :)
Up until the end of April, I worked full-time at a
prominent software development company as a Network and Systems
Administrator, and this is still my current career path. For those of
you maybe not so techno, basically that means I help to maintain the
network infrastructure in the building, i.e. LAN and WAN connectivity,
as well as maintain servers and help with related computer and network
problems. My areas of expertise are e-mail, remote access, and Lotus
Notes.
At the end of April, I left there and since then,
I've been doing some work from home and considering my options.....
whether to go back to permanent full-time work, work as a contractor
for a while, or even start my own business. I'm still up in the air on
this one.
Here's a copy of my resume,
although not quite up to date with my most recent job or my classes at
ZDU, to see the kind of things I do and the kind of skills I have.
I attend school part-time evenings at
Northeastern University. I currently
hold an A.S. in MIS from the University College part-time Undergraduate
division and working towards my B.S. I also attend
Northeastern's Continuing Education State-of-the-Art program
where I'm working towards various Certificates of Professional
Achievement in in Networking and UNIX.
Besides the classes at Northeastern University, I
also take online computer classes at
ZDU. Check it out!!
You can take as many courses as want (or as many as you can keep up with)
for only $7.95 per month (or sign up for a yearly subscription).
Lastly, I'm enrolled in a number of different e-mail
groups having to do with Witchcraft, Tarot, and Astrology. I'm an
official "Techno-Pagan" for the
Craft101
list.
Drop me a line if you're
interested in finding out more about these or any other online classes
I'm enrolled in.
With all this learning in addition to managing a couple of web sites and
starting my own business, you can imagine I keep extremely busy.
On a personal level, I take an active interest in all
things mystical and magickal. I've been a studier of Astrology for
numerous years, and recently began exploring the Tarot as well.
Over the last couple of years, I've begun my study of Paganism and
Wicca and to seek my spiritual path. I belong to a terrific
cyber-coven, The Midnight Moon, where I've met a wonderful bunch of
other Pagans. See my Pagan page for links
and other useful information regarding the Craft.
How did I get where I am today in terms of my religion?
Well, I was brought up in a very loosely Christian home; my parents
weren't very religious and we hardly ever went to church. I discovered
Paganism/Wicca when I was planning to get married back in 1992 (which I
later cancelled) and didn't want to be a hypocrite by getting married in
a Catholic church when I did not agree with any of their beliefs.
I had always found the Catholic tales of Jesus, creation, etc. rather hard
to swallow.
So I began to search my soul to discover how I perceived
the Divine force, the creator of the universe, and came across the
earth-based religions of Paganism and Wicca which most closely resembled
my own beliefs. From there, I began my solitary study of Wicca and the
Craft. Although I've been reading since then, it's only been in the last
several years that I've begun to integrate my spirituality into my
day-to-day life and this is still somewhat of a challenge for me.
