Whoosh!

I was outside the trailers at work today, busying myself with spraying for wasps. They've made quite a nuisance of themselves, hanging out on the ramps and dive bombing people as they go in or out of the offices.

Whoosh!

When I heard the roar of a burner, I looked around for the hot air balloon. I didn't see any, which was very strange. The burner sounded like it was right on top of me...

And the balloon glided over me from behind the garage. I watched the balloon skim over me, less than ten feet from the garage roof. One of the little girls in the basket waved frantically at me. I waved back.

The balloon continued over the trailers into our front yard, where the geese had been grazing a few days ago. With another roar from the basket's burner, the balloon settled to the ground with just a small bump.

I ran inside to get the accident kit camera, and took a few pictures of the balloon as it deflated. I'm sure my supervisor won't mind... Much.

While the Cat's Away...

Dave is on a business trip to Calgary, and won't be back until Thursday. It's kind of strange, missing him. I miss him anyway, since he isn't here and I'm not there. But when we're both at home, at least we can chat over ICQ and tell each other about our days, or discuss a website, or talk about stuff. Now that he's off on business, I don't even have that contact, that reassurance that he's ok.

On the other hand, I have no reason to sit at my computer when I get home, other than to write my journal entry. Dave and I have discussed how great it will be to finally not spend all our time in front of the computer, to be able to do those things we've been meaning to do, once we're together. The computer thing is getting rather old; the only reason I spend so much time here is Dave.

And yet - what am I doing this evening?

It's become habit. Another habit I have to break eventually.

But maybe I'll finally get some things done, now that I'm not distracted. grin
