I wasted most of the night diddling around online looking for comic book prices. A few years ago I came into possession of about thirty comics. Mixed titles, mixed numbers, no rhyme or reason to them. A few of them looked like they might be worth something, but I stuck them in a box and forgot about them.

In the meantime, I'm moving to Canada fairly soon, and there's lots of deadwood around here that I don't want to move with me. I want to have a garage sale before the summer ends, and I've also considered selling some stuff on EBay.

So, just out of curiosity, I looked up the list price for these comics. Two of them I wasn't able to find listed in any online price guides: Wonder Woman Plus One with Jesse Quick #1 and DC Universe Holiday Bash II. (A little help, anyone?) The rest I found. Added up, the list price for these comics is over $80.

Now, I'm not stupid. As with any collectible, the list price and actual price are two completely different animals. The price guides are complied from sales from stores and shows - some people paid more than the list price, and some paid less. It's an average. A collectible, such as a comic book, is only worth what someone is willing to pay you for it.

Anyway, I'm going to these comics on EBay just for shits and giggles to see what I get. If they don't sell - well, the insertion fee isn't that much. If I don't list them, though, I'm always going to wonder what they might have sold for on the fabled EBay.

Heh. It's actually going to be a lot of work. I'll have to get bags and boards for the comics, and shipping materials in case they do sell. I'll need some way to keep track of what I have listed. (I'm not going to be insane and list them all at once - I'd lose my mind.) I'll have to scan the covers, since I know I don't bid on an auction unless it has a picture.

Actually... There are some The Vampire Lestat comics that I've been thinking about unloading. Hmm. Something to think about. Of course, I have to find them first.

So... Any advice from EBay veterans out there?
