I can't even begin to tell you how unhappy I am with my body right now. So, AC is coming up fast. I had it all figured down to the day; the red menace would arrive on June 22 and be long gone by the time Dave got here. Guess what hasn't made an appearance yet? Sometimes it's early. Sometimes it's late. Sometimes it's here for a few days, sometimes it's here for a week. Argh! I knew this was going to happen! I just knew it! I wish I'd gone on birth control a long time ago, since I wouldn't have this problem. Soon. Soon. Anyway, I felt a few twinges today, so maybe the red menace will finally get in gear so I can get it over with. Gassed Out And I almost died tonight. Ok, yes; I'm being dramatic. My eyes were just burning and I did a bit of coughing. But it sure wasn't pleasant. The Maintenance Manager asked me to start up all the "new" Orions so they would be ready for the shuttle tomorrow. One of them didn't start (I think there's a problem with the alternator), so I started the other ones and went back to that one. While I was fiddling around with the electronics, I suddenly realized I couldn't breathe. Then I blinked and felt my eyes start to tear up. Coughing and sputtering, I rushed out of that bus. The Orions are parked butt to nose, very close to one another, and the exhaust pipe for one of them was directly under the window of the one I was working on. I gave it one more try after shutting off the bus in front, but the cabin was so full of bus exhaust by that point I couldn't stand it for more than a minute. I was going to go back out in a little while, but then thought Why bother? I'm no mechanic. I know the problem is something electrical, but other than that I'm stumped. Blech. And now my hair smells like exhaust. Ick.
