baby pea

I have a pea.

It's really small still, just a miniature version of the large pea pod it'll become. The shell is so thin that light can pass through it, and you can see the silhouettes of the baby peas inside.

Yum!

There are two more flowers on the plant, and hopefully the other vines will bear some flowers as well. Last year I grew tomatoes and cucumbers in pots like this, and they did rather well. This is an experiment to see if peas will do well in pots.

I also have cucumbers growing in the other pot. They're getting big fast, and this weekend I'm going to have to tie them up to the tomato cage. They can be trained to grow up instead of out, so I won't have cucumbers sitting on rough concrete. Yuck.

The sunflowers... They aren't doing so well. They've sort of stalled out at about six inches high, and won't grow any more. frown I hope they're ok.

I'm terribly protective of my "garden." I get nervous when I see little kids giving a plant the eye. I'm always out there, hovering over the plants, picking off dead leaves here and picking out tiny weeds there. I'll be a relief when I finally get to Canada and I can have a garden of my own.

Well, it'll be Dave's too, I guess. grin

Side note: I put up a search page for my journal. Go here, and you can search through any of my entries. I'm rather amused by the gadget. I enter in some random word and see if I used it in an entry.

Okgottagobye.
