|
The bird shit situation at work is rapidly spiraling out of control. Lots of birds roost up in the eaves at work, and they eat a lot. Then they shit a lot. And once the fledglings start getting around, they're going to be making messes... The interesting thing about this situation, though, is that you can see prevalent flight patterns spattered out on the concrete. When the birds "let go" while in flight, the shit becomes a streak, aligned with their direction of flight. The area between the office trailers is a clear flight line, with streaks running nearly parallel to the trailers. Another flight line is from the garage to the nearest light pole. I've seen birds swoop up and perch there for a minute before returning to their nest, or before looking for food. I assume that they are looking for predators, pausing a beat to make sure they aren't leading a cat or hawk to their nest. The area over our parking lot, however, is a chaotic mess. Streaks run this way and that all over the concrete (and my car!) with no rhyme or reason. The amount of bird shit splattered around is rather amazing. I hope it rains soon; otherwise we'll be up to the ankles in white goo.
