I have some things to do tonight. I have a story I need to critique, a web page to finish (I'll unveil it soon - maybe tomorrow), and a bunch of piddly little things to do: email to reply to, a story to outline, and a bunch of other things. I'm not sure what all I'll be able to do. However, I did want to mention a little thing that arrived today. Not here, but at my parents' house. My mother called me this morning and said, "Um... We got a package from Canada addressed to us, so I opened it. Why did Dave send us two goats?" Many people have heard of a dowry, the items and money that a new bride carries to her groom and his family. But there is also a thing called a "bride-price." It's the items - traditionally livestock - that a groom takes to the bride's family as a "bribe." When Dave and I announced our engagement, my mother immediately demanded goats. Well, now she's got goats. grin (They're cute little things, too.)
