I was driving around today doing some errands when a song I haven't heard in years came on the radio. So, doing what comes naturally, I cranked the song up as loud as I could stand and started belting out the words.

The wind blows hard against this mountainside
Across the sea into my soul.
It reaches into where I cannot hide
Setting my feet upon the road.

I mean, it was loud. Dexter's stereo can really pump out the sound when I want it to.

My heart is old it holds my memories...
My body burns a gemlike flame.
Somewhere between the soul and soft machine
Is where I find myself again.

My voice started to warm up as the song reached a peak in intensity. I've never been a really good singer, but when you're alone in your car there's no one there to hear you scream.

When I was in music class in sixth grade, we watched the video to this song. It was the first time I'd ever seen a video. I fell desperately in love with the drummer.

A few days later I'd fallen out of love with him, but I now had the record to show for my brief crush.

When I was young I thought of growing old;
Of what my life would mean to me.
Would I have followed down my chosen road?
Or only wished what I could be?

I pulled up to a spotlight and realized the guy in the car next to me was staring. I didn't care. My voice was starting to get a little hoarse from the bellowing, but the song wasn't over.

The songs I remember from the 80s, like this one, seem better than the songs today.
