My boots are still damp. I left them at home yesterday and wore an older pair that had holes in the soles. Well, not really holes. You see, the soles cracked along the ball of the foot, letting moisture seep in. I suffered through yesterday with them, figuring my regular boots would be dry by today. Bzzt. Wrong. So I made a run to the store before work today and bought new boots. They are High Tech Boots. They are guaranteed waterproof, made with waterproof nubuck leather with a micro thin breathable liner. They are designed for comfort and protection, with superior shock absorbing soles and a gussested tongue which keeps dirt and debris out of the boot. They have superior traction on soles that are computer designed and exceptionally nubbly. (Little nooks and crannies everywhere.) They have the comfort spring foodbed system which combines three unique components for unparalleled comfort. They are also pretty expensive, so hopefully they'll last a while. Forty dollars is a lot of money to me. While I was at the store I had a run in with a Nosy Old Man. I always shop for work boots in the men's section, because they fit my feet better, look better, and seem to last longer than women's so-called work boots. (I wear a size 7½ in men's, in case you're wondering.) So I'm browsing through the boots when the Nosy Old Man drives by on his scooter. He sees me grab a pair of boots and asks in a gravelly voice, "Are you buying boots for your boyfriend?" "No," I replied. "They're for me." "You know this is the men's section," says the Nosy Old Man. I successfully suppressed the urge to fwap him in the back of the head. "Yes, I know," I said. "I need heavy work boots, and I prefer men's shoes." "Oooh," said the Nosy Old Man. "Do you know what size you wear?" "This size," I said, gesturing to the pair I was trying on. "You know those are men's shoes," the Nosy Old Man said. The shoes fit, I crammed them back into the box, mumbled something about having to get to work, and left him sitting on his three-wheel scooter in the shoe section. Welcome to the sitcom that is my life. There are days when I wonder when the laugh track will start up. Anyway, work was all fine and good with my new, warm, dry boots. I worked about 10 hours today, but it went by pretty fast. The real good news came when I got home. Dave is coming to visit! bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce And he's coming soon! No drawn out waiting this time! He's flying in late on February 17th. Wooooooooo!!! YAY! Ahem. You might be able to tell that I'm a little psyched up about this already. grin Preview of Upcoming Entries You can expect more gushing about how happy I am to see him, rushing to get the apartment clean, tweaking my work schedule so I can see the most of his while he's here, and more gushing about how happy I am that he's coming. Yay!

Icicle Update The Icicle of Doom fell today. I was not present for its fall, and it did not crush anyone's skull. Well, there might be a cover-up going on.I can only guess that the icicle attempted to drop on an unsuspecting person and misjudged the fall.
______ of the Day Today's date to wait for is February 17th. grin
