shiver

she's actual size - home

It's been one of those days.

I'm not mad, I'm not upset, I'm not even annoyed. I'm just tired.

Biology

Aunt Flo is on her way into town.

Today I was having those cramps that say, "Your period's starting. Oh, wait, never mind. Oh, yes, it's starting! Now now now! Oops, false alarm. Why don't you go to the bathroom and check?" I hate that.

My period always starts with some fits and spurts -

...err, perhaps spurts isn't the term you're looking for...

Anyway, it has a lot of false starts before it really gets going. In the meantime, I'm having cramps. I couldn't check to see if it had actually started, because I didn't have any extra tampons with me. If I took out the one I had in, I was stuck for the rest of the day. So I just crossed my legs and hoped.

Turns out it's just started, so no problem. Except for the cramps.

Merger

The Big Merger has been progressing slowly. Glacially slow, in fact. Today our drivers started fueling at the university, which caused me no end of headaches.

I spent most of the day shuttling myself back and forth from our office to the university. While at the university garage, I showed our drivers how to use their fuel pump. It was a slow process, because not all the drivers came in at the same time. I would teach one, then wait around with my thumb up my ass. Show another, and wait around.

If I had known I would be doing this day, I could have brought something to do. But nooooooo. No one tells me a damn thing. Never mind that they called me in early to do this - no need to tell me I'll be wasting my day staring at a diesel pump.

Weather

We gots snow. We gots lots of snow. We gots lots and lots of snow.

All told, we got around 3-4 inches today. The heavy wet stuff, not the dry powdery stuff. The routes were all running ridiculously behind schedule.

Which, of course, made me wait around even longer at the university. I felt so sorry for the service crew person at the university. She was there all alone, and here we were disrupting her already hellish night. I offered to help her out in anyway I could, but she declined. I did open the door for her, for what good it did.

This is the worst snow I've driven Dexter in yet. He handled fine for a sedan. A little sliding in the corners while turning at 1mph, but all right otherwise.

Of course, I only did about 35mph all the way home (in a 55mph zone). The snow was so thick it was like driving in fog. The headlights reflected back to me off the snow, and I could hardly see the road. Which wasn't plowed, by the way. I crawled down the road following almost in the ruts that the previous cars had made.

(TIP: All Snow Belt drivers know about ruts. Use them wisely and sparsely. If the snow on the road is ankle deep or higher, follow the ruts because they will (hopefully) keep you on the road. If the snow is less than ankle deep, follow almost in the ruts - not directly in them. When the snow on the road isn't that deep, ice forms in tire ruts and can cause you to spin out for no reason.)

When I got home, I had to park Dexter in a snow drift because my neighbors forget how to park when it snows.

My Feet

I think this is what really drained the energy out of me today.

I had wet feet all day.

My boots are getting old, and aren't as waterproof as they used to be. What am I saying... They aren't waterproof at all anymore. So I got to work with wet boots. Then I stood in snow drifts and puddles and pools of diesel all afternoon and evening. Every time my boots started to dry off, I had to go outside again and they got wet all over.

By the time I got home, my feet were numb. I took off my boots, peeled off my dripping (yes, dripping) socks, and slid into my slippers. My feet are still pretty cold, but at least they're dry.

Oy.

I'm tired.

______ of the Day

Today's bitch is that my friend's ex-boyfriend, the one who abused her and gave her a VD, filed a complaint against her that she was harrassing and stalking him. Too bad for him that she has evidence to the contrary.

Rot in hell, bastard.

Go Somewhere

You know, I thought more today about driving than anything else. So this display of Road Signs (and other stuff) was greatly appreciated.
