Last night Dave and I had a discussion about sleeping habits. He snores. I drool (and snore, but quieter than him). We're both pretty restless sleepers, always tossing and turning. I don't even remember how the topic came up. Wait, yes I do. I was telling him how empty my bed seems at night, and how I'll crawl into bed and think: "It would be a lot warmer if Dave were here." Then he revealed that I am a bed hog. I will roll closer and closer to him, and he'll scoot farther and farther over, until he's teetering on the edge. "Aww..." I replied. "I kept moving over to cuddle and you kept scooting farther away from me." I know that when I sleep during the winter, I'll move towards the source of warmth in the bed. Most of the time the warmth tends to be whatever stuffed animal is occupying my bed that night. Dave gave me a huge snow leopard plushie that I've been sleeping with. But the poor little guy can't complain when I scoot him out of the bed, and he is almost always on the floor come morning. Anyway, when I'm sleeping with Dave I keep moving towards him because he is a great source of warmth, and is very snuggly. grin Then he told me about something that happened while we were together over New Year's. I was sleeping, and kept scootching over to him. He kept moving over to give me room. Finally, as he tottered on the edge of the bed, I had the gall to mutter, "Hey, quit hogging the bed!" Dave gave me a shove and I rolled back over to my side of the bed. He wrapped an arm around me (probably for two reasons: to cuddle and to keep me in place) and fell asleep. I, of course, remember none of this. I instructed him to give me a push anytime I started crowding him, and I'd either just roll over or wake up (and he could just tell me to roll over.) I know I give him an elbow anytime his snores start reaching rafter-shaking decibels. Dave said he read someplace that people tend to bruise each other for a while until they get used to sleeping in the same bed. I've only gotten a few sleeping-related injuries, most notably the time Dave clawed me with a toenail. (And I still have the scar!) Conclusion: We're gonna need a lot more practice. But I'll be practice I'm very willing to do. grin
