she's actual size - home

I got a neat gift the other day from my uncle, who built my computer. He dropped off some "extra" RAM - 64 MB worth - for me to put in my computer. Zoooom! Unfortunately, after I installed the RAM I didn't know what to do next. My computer still thinks it has 32 MB of RAM. I need up update the memory configuration, and I don't have a clue how to do that.

I asked Dave, but he can't tell me how unless he knows how the motherboard is set up. So I'll have to email my uncle to find out. Oh well. grin

Today was mostly a loss for me. I've been letting myself sleep until I wake up naturally (not setting the alarm). I'm still trying to shake off this cold, and sleep should help. So I've been sleeping about 11 hours a night. I still feel the same - a little out of it and muzzy. Hopefully the extra sleep will speed up the healing process.

One of the things I've been meaning to do is wash my dishes. By far the worst part of the job is the silverware. I hate washing silverware. Before I left for Wisconsin, I piled all the silverware and cooking utensils in the sink and ran some really hot and soapy water, and let them soak while I was gone.

So the water slowly drained out, and now I have a sink full of icky, greasy silverware. I can't use my sink now, since I would have to remove the silverware (or wash it - heh) to use it. I feel like a total lazy ass, but the silverware still sits there, staring at me. Wash us... And now everything that was softened up by the soaking has crusted up again, and I'm back to square one.

I hate washing silverware.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll wake at a semi-reasonable hour and I can wash some of it. If I remember, I'll run the water again tonight and re-soak everything.

Project number two is taking down the Christmas lights.

I think I'll wait until this weekend to do that. I'll have to drag out all the boxes again, and figure out where I stashed my porch light. Then I need to take apart the tree, box it all up, and shove it back in the closet. It's such a pain in the ass. Why do I bother? Every year I bring out the Christmas decorations right after Thanksgiving, and every year they stay up waaaaay past when I should have taken them down.

Oh well. My parents' lights and tree are still up, so I suppose it's not all that late yet.

March is late.

One year I took down the Christmas decorations in April. Now that was embarrassing. The mailman asked me sometime around Tax Day "Are you ever going to take that down?" I suppose that mailmen don't have much to think about, other than who still has Christmas decorations up, but it did make me blush a bit.

I am not waiting until April this year. Really. I promise. This weekend at the latest. Honest.

Looking Up

The brightest star in the sky is Sirius, which is only 8.5 light years away. Look in the southeast in the evening for the brightest star you can see. Sirius is also known as the Dog Star, because it is in the constellation Canis Major, or the Big Dog.

Spinning

Yesterday I asked for help in identifying a song I heard on the radio. It is not an 80s song like I thought (well, I heard it on a 80s station and it sounded vaguely 80s to me!).

Thanks to everyone who wrote to me (you know who you are)! The song is "I Want You" by Savage Garden, and came out in 1997.
