Well, Prohosting was down yesterday, so I didn't get around to writing an entry. Which got me to thinking: I've been doing an entry a day for almost three months now. That's a lot of writing. However, not all of it is "up to par" as far as my standards go. Some examples of this are here, here, and here. Basically, they're cop-out entries. I write entries like that because I'm short on time, I'm tired, or I have nothing interesting to say. But I feel compelled to put up an entry, since not doing an entry would break my "record." And I hate doing it like that. If I don't have anything to say, should I not say anything at all? What do you think? Quality is my goal, but quantity is what I've been working on. I'd like to do both, but sometimes that just isn't realistic. I know that sometime, someday, the time will come when I won't feel like putting up an entry every day. I'm not getting tired of the journal., but writing in it every day has become a real pain. ("Oh gosh, nothing happened today. What am I going to talk about?) I've toyed with the idea of going from a daily journal to an almost-daily one, and setting up a notify list for anyone who cares. Entries would be at most two or three days apart, since I'm doing this for a writing exercise and therapy. grin I'll let you know whatever I decide, but I would like your input. Today was a day of noticing the little things around me. Those things that you see everyday, things slightly out of the ordinary, but which you dismiss because you're so familiar with them. It started when I noticed (again) that one of the Gilligs' block boxes (a small box on the front of the bus which gives a route number) has been changed to something interesting. We don't use the block boxes, since we only run one Gillig route and have no need to differentiate between the routes. Some time ago, someone set the block box to read "69." Who did it? Why did they do it? Why hasn't anyone changed it? Why didn't I change it? Something else I noticed was how many windows in my complex have a fireman's sticker in the window. These stickers are given out by the fire department for parents to put in the bedroom windows of children. In care of a fire, the firemen will look for those stickers and check if there is someone sleeping in that room. There's a lot of those stickers here. I also noticed that the Assistant Ops Manager has some interesting sounds installed on her computer. Normally the sound on her computer is turned way down, so it's just a quiet murmur, but I noticed it today. When she minimizes or restores a window, the computer makes a "Taa daa!" sound. When a notice window pops up, the computer honks. And when she logs off her computer, a guy shouts, "Hot dogs!" You know, it's just the little things that you notice sometimes.

Looking Up The space shuttle Discovery made it into space today with only one hitch - their email isn't printing out correctly. Mission Control uses email to transmit instructions to the shuttle. The email was getting there ok... But the printer wasn't working.Their operating platform? Windows. Coincidence? You make the call.
