monday redux

Today should have been Monday.

I had every intention of getting up early to go job-hunting. But when I finally rolled out of bed around 9:30am, I didn't feel like going anywhere. I felt... odd. I got dressed despite how I was feeling and trucked myself down to the closest store.

The manager seemed happy enough that I was applying. I guess they really need morning people. But while I was filling out the application and trying to explain my bizarre work history, I felt a rumble in my tummy. Not a hungry rumble. A "you had better get your ass over to a toilet ASAP" rumble.

Bleah.

Well, I went home because I remembered that I hadn't told my supervisor at work that I was planning on applying for a second job. I didn't want her freaking out thinking I was quitting or anything. So I called her, and then went to the bathroom.

I'll spare you the details. Suffice it to say that I didn't feel like going anywhere after all that.

A few hours later I felt well enough to go to work. Work was a nightmare today. I'm in a really foul mood for some reason, and I kept snapping at people for the stupidest things. For example: the software-training guy is back. Whoopie-freaking-doo. I was trying to book a trip, but it kept giving me an error I'd never seen. He comes over and "hmms" at the error for a minute.

"Press F3," he finally says. I do. It fixes it. "Yep," he said smugly. "You must have pressed F3 before you went into trip booking, and that screwed it up."

"I didn't press F3," I said.

"You must have," he replied.

"Maybe you meant to press F5 and pressed F3 instead," my supervisor offers unhelpfully.

Look, you morons! I wanted to scream.I didn't press F3. I didn't press F5. I just got here and just logged on and I know what I've pressed and what I haven't pressed! And I didn't hit F3!

It's just been that kind of day.

And then a bus ran out of fuel again and I got to stand out in the cold with it until the service truck arrived. When a bus shuts down, it loses heat very quickly. Fortunately a nice cop offered to let me sit in his cruiser with him (with the heat blasting) until he got called to a domestic dispute. That helped a bit, but I was still frozen to the bone by the time the truck got there.

Brr.

My apartment's a mess, I have no food, and I still haven't done any of my Christmas shopping. I know that I have plenty of time, but I don't know what my schedule's going to be like if I get that job.

Ick.

But the sky was so clear tonight, and I saw a few meteors. The Leonids start tomorrow, but it looks like they're gearing up tonight.

I have a headache. I'm going to bed.
