Chris Murphy

So Chris's your favourite member of Sloan, eh? Well, why not tell the rest of the world why he's the coolest one out of all the Sloan guys. Is it his awesome bass playing? His beautiful songs? His wonderful lyrics? Whatever the reason, send it in and I'll put it up here with all the other reasons why Chris rawks.

You wanna know why Chris Murphy is my idol? Simply because this man is the epitome of charisma. I caught Sloan the other night when they came here to Gainesville because my friend in Michigan told me to check them out. So I went, even though I had never heard any of their stuff. It was a thoroughly enjoyable show and I ended up accidentally running into Chris and hanging out with him after the show. I have never met anyone who is so funny, easy to talk to, and easy to get along with (unless, of course, you're fighting about the quality of "Billy Madison"). I just can't get over what a cool guy he is... I'm definitely investing in some Sloan albums... :)

I idolize Chris Murphy because he's an extraordinary guy. Not only is he a talented guitar player, but he is also a wonderful lyricist (Something that he doesn't always get enough credit for!). Chris is witty, outgoing (you just have to love his antics!), intelligent, and he makes it fun to follow Sloan. Most importantly, Chris is completely down to earth and he has this uncanny ability to put people totally at ease when they are around him. I have been fortunate enough to have met to Chris on several occasions and he always manages to make me feel like he is sincerely interested in what I have to say. At the Sloan concert on Nov. 7th he even jumped off of the stage (in the middle of the show!) to kiss my friend and I on the cheek. Chris knows how to make people feel appreciated and he hasn't let his fame go to his head. This may seem a little over the top, but I have to say it. I love Chris Murphy not simply because he is "handsome" or "cute", but because he is one of the most talented and genuine people I have ever had the privilege of meeting.

I idolize Chris Murphy because of him. In every interview I've ever seen, he is funny, charming, and he seems soooo nice. When I saw them at Edgefest '98, he seemed to be totally enjoying himself. I really loved when he did the chant (Slo-oan) and his kick. That concert was an amazing experience for me. The thing that upsets me about it was afterwards when I found out that the person I had gone with knew a few of the groups that were there. I could have gone backstage and met them! I would have loved it. Not only do I idolize him, but I also admire him a great deal. Even though they are not the most popular group (they should be!), they still work hard for the fans that love them so much.
